Camera system installation

The paper machine camera system is an important tool in determining root causes of sheet breaks and other production issues. The existing paper machine camera system was obsolete and experiencing regular and increasing equipment and cable failures, which led to higher machine downtime. LHB provided onsite project management and engineering services for the design, planning, and installation of a new Procemex web monitoring camera system.

Services provided included:

• Designs for camera system power, communication, air, and water infrastructure
• Drawings and other documents to facilitate installation and commissioning
• Management and on-site coverage for installation work and commissioning
• Management of contractors and of operator and maintenance training

Improvements to the system included:

• Cameras with updated technology, higher resolution, and processing/analyzing of video data internally (to eliminate need for external data processing equipment)
• New virtualized server setup with less hardware for increased reliability
• New LED strobe lighting
• Mobile camera connection boxes and associated wiring to facilitate use of new mobile camera package
