Historic Preservation
A Passion For Historic Structures
LHB’s historic preservation team has successfully completed work on a wide range of projects, from lighthouses to masonic temples, courthouses to campus landmarks to landmark bridges. Our clients include nonprofits, historical societies, universities, private colleges, municipalities, developers, and fraternal organizations, and the design services that we provide are comprehensive: conditions assessments, historic structures reports, design documents, construction administration, and more.
Wide-Ranging Work
Our portfolio of historic-building and bridge-preservation projects encompasses a variety of project types: stone buildings and wooden ones, steel-truss bridges and masonry bridges, water towers and railroad turntables, gorgeous restorations and behind-the-scenes HVAC upgrades. We immerse ourselves in the details of each project without losing sight of our clients’ goals and objectives.
Funding Know-How
Raising dollars for historic preservation can be a challenge, and LHB does its best to support clients’ fundraising efforts by breaking down restoration projects into stages that can be built in phases. We offer design proposals that fit their budgets, and whenever possible, we leverage our knowledge of the grant-writing process to offer direction, information, and other forms of assistance.
Comprehensive Service
LHB is a multidisciplinary firm, with a wide array of architectural, engineering, and planning specializations inhouse. When questions crop up, we rarely have to call consultants—our own team can suggest answers, providing a creative solution that seamlessly aligns with your vision for the project. There’s no additional contract to sign, no need to rearticulate your goals.
