Career and Technical Education Lab and Office Renovations

A large number of career and technical instruction labs were first constructed in the 1960s and ’70s and no longer meet the current educational expectations. LHB has a long history of working with college technical departments to address deficiencies within the learning environment. Working with stakeholders from Northwood Technical College, formerly Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, LHB reviewed their existing fabrication lab plus the lab and classrooms spaces of the machine tool, automotive, HVAC, and welding programs. Thinking towards the future, shared spaces were created for more collaborative and flexible use while outdated electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing issues were addressed for a truly modernized facility. The 57,093 SF lab spaces support improved faculty-student interactions and industry standard equipment to promote student success.

LHB renovated the existing campus to create a new 4,500 SF welding lab at Northwood Technical College. This state-of-the-art lab was designed with safety and functionality in mind. Power bus ducts, disconnects, lighting, exhaust hoods, and welding booth exhaust systems were designed to accommodate existing and new technical equipment, fabrication, and instruction.

HVAC Trane Classroom & Lab

The 3,400 HVAC Laboratory and Classroom was designed in partnership with Trane to support Northwood Technical College’s HVAC certification program. The area was planned to accommodate a HVAC geothermal lab, refrigeration lab, rooftop unit lab, and small unit mezzanine. These spaces were designed as working labs to allow students to maintain and repair the equipment.
