East Wing Hyperbaric/Wound Care Center
Consolidated care
Looking to strengthen their presence as the destination for premier medical care in central Wisconsin, Marshfield Clinic combined their hyperbaric medicine and wound care departments into one unit to provide more holistic patient-centered care.
Approached by Marshfield Clinic to lead the effort, LHB worked with the newly combined care unit’s staff and the medical equipment vendors to design an addition to the existing East Wing clinic. The addition consists of 10,000 SF of clinical space with access from the existing clinic, as well as independent access to the unit. The building addition also includes 10,000 SF of mechanical and electrical support space for the multi-person hyperbaric chamber and 10,000 SF of shell space for future expansion.
Not only does the addition contain one of only seven 10-person hyperbaric chambers in the United States, it is currently the only facility that provides full-spectrum treatment with both a hyperbaric therapy chamber and an operating room within the department.
Design to promote healing
The new facility incorporated a lot of glass, including large windows in the hyperbaric treatment area and pre/post procedure bay, to provide additional daylight and promote healing within the spaces.
