SMSC’s Commitment to Achieving Carbon Neutrality
Sustainability Plan
LHB, alongside Local Climate Solutions and Climate + Transportation Strategies LLC, collaborated with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) to complete a comprehensive Sustainability Plan. This plan included strategies to achieve carbon neutrality in the near-term and aims for sustainability in the next seven generations.
Priority Climate Action Plan
Building on this foundation, LHB and Local Climate Solutions are advancing the Priority Climate Action Plan to support SMSC’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. LHB’s contributions include:
– Lead team coordination, meeting facilitation, document sharing set-up and maintenance
– Lead GHG inventory and GHG emissions projections updates
– Lead quantification of GHG reduction measures and benefits analysis
– Support identification of funding opportunities
– Support stakeholder engagement efforts
– Lead development of approach and tools for tracking climate work plan and outcomes
– Participate in Climate Innovation Team meetings
– Draft quarterly and final reports.
These initiatives provide SMSC with a clear path to a sustainable and carbon-neutral future, demonstrating a strong commitment to climate leadership and community collaboration.
