Parks Master Plan & Implementation

From Vision to Reality

LHB and the City of Roseville have been working closely together for over a decade, beginning with a master planning process for more than 30 parks, 679 acres of parkland and open space, and 37 miles of trails and walks. That process, built to rise to the challenge of creating a “world renowned park system,” has been implemented, in part, due to robust community support built through an LHB-facilitated planning process.

The Roseville Parks and Recreation Renewal Program (PRRP) invested over $16M in the park system, including new community buildings, playground and recreational facilities, and natural resource restoration projects. It also included renovations and reinvestment in some of Roseville’s unique recreation assets, such as a skating center, arboretum, and a disc golf course. In its entirety, the PRRP invested in nearly every park in Roseville in significant ways.

More recently, in alignment with the long-term goals of the original master plan, LHB has helped the city add new parks in underserved areas. This resulted in the addition of Unity Park and Midland Gardens Park. These two pocket parks had their own community engagement processes, resulting in unique amenities for their respective neighborhood.

Engaging at every step

During the master planning process, LHB heard from hundreds of residents at dozens of meetings and other events. Our commitment to listening continued through all phases of implementation. For Unity Park, LHB and the City hosted “Popsicles in the Park” and included a bouncy house and a visit from a fire truck to encourage kids from the neighborhood to participate.
