Ojibway Park

New Life for a Community Park

Ojibway Park has long been an important community gathering place and a key asset for Woodbury residents. It is a focal point for events like Woodbury Days, houses a wide variety of sports facilities, and includes an extensive system of natural spaces and trails. However, aging facilities and the shifting needs of a changing community meant the park was ready for revitalization. LHB was hired to update the park’s master plan through an inclusive engagement process, using compelling graphics and renderings to translate new design directions into an updated vision for the park.

After the plan’s approval, LHB was engaged to design the first phase of improvements, including a new park building with gathering spaces, restrooms, and storage; a large play area; reconstruction of a parking lot; new and renovated trails and boardwalks, including ADA upgrades and wayfinding; and numerous related amenities and infrastructure. Through an interactive design process, including cost estimation, the project team refined the design, developed construction documents, and assisted City staff through the bidding and construction processes. The project has reinvigorated the park, creating a place that invites the entire community to gather.

Engaging for all ages

The master planning process was driven by community involvement–especially young people. At meetings and pop-up events, they contributed ideas for all aspects of the park and inspired the designers to think big when it came to fun.
