Smart Space

This project was the result of Donaldson Company’s ongoing commitment to its Workplace of the Future Vision Plan, which focuses on updating the office, amenity, resource, and laboratory facilities with the primary goal of enhancing employee satisfaction and performance. In particular, the 41,000 SF Information Technology Suite renovation optimized an underutilized floor of an office building on the company’s corporate campus in Bloomington, MN. Applying the lessons learned from a post-occupancy evaluation of previous renovation projects, the corporate facilities group and design team focused on grouping workstations in smaller batches, providing a variety of rooms for smaller meeting and distributing private offices evenly throughout the space. Work environments were grouped to maximize outdoor views, skylights were added in deep interior locations to improve daylighting, and special consideration was given to acoustics and privacy for particular team spaces.
