A Message from Rick Carter
I hope 2024 is off to a good start for you and your business. I’m writing to let you know about some important leadership changes at LHB.
On April 1st, as part of a long-planned transition, I will step down from my role as CEO of LHB and pass the reins to Jason Mangan, who most recently led our Energy & Industry team.
A mechanical engineer by training, Jason has spent much of the last decade managing and growing our work in a range of industries, including pulp and paper, mining and heavy manufacturing, energy transmission, and renewables. He has served on LHB’s Board of Directors since 2016 and is co-president of LHB Technical Services, a wholly owned subsidiary that focuses on contract technical staffing. A native of northern Minnesota (like me, Jason is also from Cloquet!), Jason began his career as an LHB intern 26 years ago and remains passionate about mentorship and professional education. He embodies our commitment to our core values: healthy relationships, technical excellence, dedication, and listening first.
I know that you will enjoy working with Jason. I hope you will have a chance to connect with him — in person, by phone, or virtually — soon. He will impress you.
Succeeding Jason in his role as the leader of LHB’s Energy & Industry team will be longtime LHB employee Brian Santori. Brian is a skilled engineer known for his outstanding client service and his ability to lead multidisciplinary teams. In recent years, he has also served on LHB’s Tomorrow’s Design team, a group focused on our vision “At the Forefront of Design for our Changing World.”
I hope you’ll join me in congratulating Jason and Brian on their promotions.
One final note: Over the past 40 years, I’ve watched LHB evolve from a small design team based in Duluth into a multidisciplinary, 230-person firm with offices in multiple locations, work that spans 15 markets, and clients located across the country. And since 2019, it has been my privilege to lead LHB’s leadership team in its ongoing efforts to support our staff, our internal operations, and the services we offer our clients. It’s been a true honor and pleasure. Thank you.
Sincerely, Rick Carter
