Nemadji 115kV Substation
Reliability Improvements
For years, our client had been planning to take a terminal off the “bulk electric system” as a way of improving both customer electric reliability and electric system reliability. Multiple substations were connected to a new 115kV circuit in and out of a new 115kV switching station. The switching station was intended to be expanded to include a transformer to feed the nearby refinery. Following a delay in construction due to Covid-19 issues, the original switching station and expanded substation were constructed together. The remainder of the 115kV circuit included new double-circuit transmission line construction and reconfiguration of existing transmission lines. Construction work required extensive interface with the refinery and BNSF RR. LHB provided overall project management as an embedded service and also provided the civil engineering design of the substation. Project management work began in 2014. Transmission line construction is expected to be completed in 2023.
